2007 Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion

Volkswagen Golf BlueMotionVolkswagen Golf BlueMotionFirst Facts on the Golf BlueMotion:
World premiere of the most economical Golf at the IAA
4.5 liter fuel consumption and 119 g/km CO2: New Golf BlueMotion sets environmentally-friendly benchmarks in the compact class
BlueMotion fireworks: Besides the Golf, Volkswagen will be presenting five other BlueMotion models at the IAA
Wolfsburg, 13 August 2007 - Volkswagen will be firing off the next salvo of its BlueMotion initiative at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. In total, six new models with technology that is as economical as it is environmentally friendly, will debut at the world's largest car show. One of the highlights there: The new Golf BlueMotion. At just 4.5 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers, its fuel consumption has been reduced by a full 0.6 liters compared to the original model. Similarly, CO2 emissions have been reduced from 135 g/km to 119 g/km. Actions taken on the BlueMotion make it so efficient that now distances of more than 1,200 kilometers are possible on just one Golf tank of fuel (55 liter). Market introduction of the Golf BlueMotion in Germany is scheduled for the end of this year.

Details of the new Golf BlueMotion: After the Polo, Passat and Passat Variant, the Golf is now the fourth Volkswagen to wear the new BlueMotion environmental badge on its radiator grille and rear hatch that identifies it as the most economical model of the car series. The Golf BlueMotion is driven by a TDI with 77 kW / 105 PS and a hefty 250 Newton-meter of torque that has already achieved recognition as an efficient engine.

A software intervention in engine management reduces the idling speed of this diesel combined with a particulate filter and simultaneously improves its emission behavior. With longer gear ratios in third, fourth and fifth gears, engine speed levels are also lower while driving. These actions alone reduce consumption by about 0.2 liter.

Less apparent but no less necessary for a plus in economy are the thoroughly trimmed and thereby flow-optimized underbody as well as the nearly enclosed radiator grille. To ensure that the TDI engine still gets enough cooling air, the Golf BlueMotion has an effective dual fan. Thanks to aerodynamic design measures, including lowering of the chassis, the cW value of 0.32, which in itself is a good value, was further improved to 0.30.

In the hunt for every gram of CO2 Volkswagen is also relying on light-running tires, size 195 / 65 R 15, optimized for low rolling resistance; they are driven at higher air pressure, increased by 0.3 bar. When all of the modifications come together in the end product, the top speed of the Golf rises from 187 km/h to an electronically limited 190 km/h.

When it comes to equipment options, the Golf BlueMotion customer can choose between the Trendline and Comfortline. In addition to basic equipment, special Blue Motion specification is also on board. The base price of the Golf BlueMotion Trendline is 20,615 euro and this makes it just 315 euro more than the base price of a Golf 1.9 TDI Trendline. When adjustments are made for equipment options, the BlueMotion is even more economical than previous TDI versions with 105 PS and soot particulate filter. Besides the aerodynamic modifications already mentioned, standard equipment includes the Multifunctional Display Plus (MFA Plus) with gear recommendation arrow and a sports chassis. Thanks to its attractive price positioning, the purchase of a Golf BlueMotion already pays off from the first kilometer – and not just for the environment, but also for customers' budgets.

VW Tiguan
Volkswagen at the IAA 2007: Marketing campaign with eight world premieres

* SUV: World premiere of an agile Tiguan
* Prototype: World premiere of a slick City Expert
* BlueMotion: Six new models at a stroke

Volkswagen will present its widest product range of all time at the International Automobile Exhibition (IAA) in Frankfurt (13th to 23rd September). Europe's no. 1 will be presenting over fifty models on view in Hall 3.0 – eight of them world premieres. One of the highlights: the Tiguan – an entirely new generation of SUV developed to complement the Touareg. And if all that's not enough: Volkswagen will respond to the official motto of this year's IAA – "see what's driving tomorrow" – with a prototype. The heart of this sensationally flexible City Expert will beat where the flat-four "Boxer" engine once did in the Beetle. When the gates open at the IAA, six new BlueMotion models will also make their debut. From 2008 onward Volkswagen will offer nine vehicles under the BlueMotion label.

Volkswagen will welcome visitors to the IAA in an exposition area of 9,000 square metres. The centrepiece of that will be the Tiguan. It is the world's first production model exclusively equipped with supercharged engines. It offers two particular advantages: lower fuel consumption and still fun to drive. Also new: the remarkably quiet four-cylinder diesel engine with common-rail injection. The two new TDIs produce 103 kW/140 PS and 125 kW/170 PS respectively. Both engines already conform to the Euro 5 exhaust standards that will be introduced in 2009. You will be able to "see what's driving tomorrow" here and now.

Moreover, Volkswagen will unveil six new BlueMotion models at the same time. Therefore, in the course of 2008, there will be at least nine BlueMotion models available. The Volkswagen BlueMotion environmental label will certainly become a byword for effective environmental protection. The versions already available – the Polo BlueMotion (3.8 litres of Diesel consumed per 100 km and 99 g/km CO2) and Passat BlueMotion (5.1 litres of Diesel consumed per 100 km and 136 g/km CO2) – have already redefined the standards of economy in their respective classes.

The Volkswagen press conference will be held on 11th September at 11.00 a.m. in Hall 3.0, on the Volkswagen stand. Dr. Martin Winterkorn will present the new Tiguan there, as well as the prototype of a future compact model.

Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 at the GTI International show

Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 650

The Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 concept is set to make its UK debut at the GTI International show, an independently organised event which will be held over the weekend of 16/17 June at Bruntingthorpe proving ground in Leicestershire. Marking the 30 th anniversary of the GTI’s arrival in the UK, the GTI W12 – the most powerful Golf every produced by Volkswagen – will be seen for the first time since its unveiling at a GTI enthusiast event in Austria last month.
The GTI W12-650 is powered by a bi-turbo W12 engine developing 650 PS – a full 450 PS increase over the standard Golf GTI. Unlike the standard car the W12-powered GTI channels its drive through its rear wheels via a six-speed Tiptronic gearbox.
Not only is the GTI W12 lower (by 70 mm) and wider (by 160 mm) than the car on which it’s based but it is also faster. From a standstill the GTI W12 can hit 62 mph in only 3.7 seconds and won’t relent until it’s reached an estimated 201 mph.
Keeping the GTI W12 stable at high speeds are sophisticated under body aerodynamics linked to a carbon fibre roof incorporating a scoop on its trailing edge to feed air into the mid-mounted engine. The GTI W12 features a floating C-pillar to allow the rear windows to sweep inwards and channel airflow into the radiators.
The GTI International gathering is celebrating its 20 th anniversary with an estimated 20,000 fans set to attend in a diverse range of GTI models from across the five generations. Journalists will have the opportunity to join the fans and set a time up the quarter mile sprint in the latest 230 PS Golf GTI Edition 30 or the range-topping Golf R32. Joining the Golf GTI W12 on display will be examples of historic Volkswagens, race cars and the GTI-rivalling Sportline Transporter vans. Unique approved Volkswagen accessories will also make their debut at the event.

Volkswagen reveals Tiguan prototype

Volkswagen Tiguan Volkswagen will complete the development phase of the new Tiguan with a final extreme test in Namibia. During the final acceptance drive on the African continent, the electronic components and chassis of the new SUV are the primary focus of testing. Considering the electronics, a technical highlight on board the Tiguan is of special interest for the testers: the completely new generation radio and navigation system.
This was developed in close cooperation with the most important local Volkswagen operations in Europe, Asia and America. Worldwide development collaboration made it possible for a wider than ever pool of specialized know-how, and also the requirements of all markets, to influence the devices. The top system of the new line, with the designation RNS 510, has a 30 GB hard disk and is controlled with a touch screen. A rear-view camera enables a view behind in this case.
Completely new electronic systems also simplify offroad driving in the Tiguan. The particularly agile and dynamic SUV uses an innovative network of assistance systems with the name of “Offroad Mode”. Just on touch of a switch activates a whole armada of safety features, supporting the driver in a multitude of situations.
Five motors. All of the engine and body versions of the Tiguan have to “swallow” the dust of Namibia in this final test. Volkswagen will be offering the SUV – and this is unique so far – exclusively with charged engines. The TSIs (gasoline) output 110 kW / 150 PS, 125 kW / 170 and 147 kW / 200 PS; and the TDIs (diesel) develop 103 kW / 140 PS and 125 kW / 170 PS.
Two front ends. The two body variants of the Tiguan differ primarily in their front ends. The “Trend & Fun” and “Sport & Style” versions are designed for a maximum entry angle of 18 degrees in front. The “Track & Field” Tiguan that is tuned even more for offroad duty can assume entry angles of up to 28 degrees with its front end.
During the testing program in Africa, as however already mentioned, the emphasis is less on engines and entry angles than on final checking of the electronics and chassis.

Volkswagen Golf GT Sport

Volkswagen Golf GT SportVOLKWAGEN INTRODUCES NEW GOLF GT SPORT TRIM
Volkswagen
is set to replace the existing Golf Sport and GT trim levels with a single all-new model – the Golf GT Sport.
The Golf GT Sport debuts a purposeful new look as well as additional equipment over the models it replaces to deliver greater value. An all-new darkened grille section is intersected by a set of horizontal fins to forge a visual link with the other sporting models in the range – the potent GTI and R32 variants. Inset into the grille is a new 'GT Sport' badge. Framing the new nose are a pair of darkened headlights which visually separate the lenses into four, individual units. They sit above a set of fog lights mounted in the front air dams.
In profile the new GT Sport is distinguished by subtle tints to the rear windows and a set of 17-inch multi-spoke 'ClassiXs' alloy wheels fitted with 225/45 R17 tyres.
At the rear twin chrome exhausts on the 170 PS models are joined by discreet 'GT Sport' badges.
The subtle, sporting look continues inside. A leather-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel, gearknob and handbrake are fitted along with front sports seats, automatic light sensing headlights and rain sensing windscreen wipers. This is in addition to Climatic air conditioning, a CD stereo system with eight speakers and electric windows. Six airbags, ABS and Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) round off the high levels of standard equipment.
The purposeful exterior is backed up by dynamic underpinnings. The innovative 1.4-litre TSI engine which utilises both a supercharger and a turbocharger to generate high power outputs from a modest engine capacity while retaining high levels of economy is available in 140 PS and 170 PS guises. A single 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine is also available in 140 PS and 170 PS outputs. Both petrol and diesel engines are available mated to a choice of six-speed manual or DSG transmissions.
The new Golf GT Sport will be available in both three- and five-door bodystyles when deliveries start later in the summer. It joins the existing S and Match trim levels in the Golf model range. Prices are set to start at £17,422 for the entry-level three-door variant specified with a 1.4-litre TSI 140 PS engine, rising to £21,352 for the five-door model fitted with the 2.0-litre TDI 170 PS engine with DSG transmission.

Volkswagen Golf Plus Dune Limited Edition (UK)

Volkswagen Golf Plus Dune Limited Edition UKVolkswagen Golf Plus Dune Limited Edition UK

A distinctive new version of the Golf Plus is set to join the Volkswagen range later in the summer with the arrival of the Golf Plus Dune. Based on the versatile Golf Plus platform, the new Dune model’s styling is based on that of its ‘little brother’, the Polo Dune. As such it features a raised ride height, revised exterior styling and additional standard equipment.
Revised springs and dampers raise the ride height by 20 mm to improve ground clearance and give the Dune model a more purposeful stance. This is enhanced by a set of unique BBS 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in 225/45 R17 tyres.
The raised ride height is accentuated by a set of bespoke matt blistered wheel arches and tough, textured plastic front and rear. Set into the front bumper is a deep air dam framed by a set of fog lights, while the rear bumper is intersected by a contoured, silver panel. Completing the look are silver roof rails and durable plastic rubbing strips running down the side of the vehicle. Just three colours – Ice Silver and Steel Grey metallic as well as Blue Graphite pearl effect – will be offered.
Beneath the unique body styling is an efficient 1.9-litre TDI engine developing 105 PS and 184 lbs ft of torque. The engine is fitted with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) as standard to reduce emissions. As a result the Golf Plus Dune is capable of returning a combined economy figure of 50.4 mpg while emitting only 148 g/km of CO 2. These gains don’t come at the expense of performance. The Golf Plus Dune has a top speed of 121 mph and the ability to sprint from standstill to 62 mph in 12.1 seconds.
Along with the exterior changes, the Golf Plus Dune also comes with additional equipment inside the cabin. Unique interior trim is joined by a leather steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake. In time for the summer, Climatic semi automatic air conditioning is fitted as standard along with automatic driving lights and windscreen wipers, electric front and rear windows, a multifunction computer and an eight-speaker CD stereo system. And like all Golf Plus models, the Dune also features six airbags, ABS and Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP).
The Golf Plus Dune costs £18,495 (RRP on the road) and is available to order from Volkswagen UK retailers now. Production is limited to 400 vehicles.

Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 650Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 650Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 650Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 650Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 650

PRESS RELEASE:
Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 650
Showtime at the Wörthersee
Leave conventions behind and let ypur passion awake - since the beginning these were the roots of the GTI idea. Until today they got more than 1.67 million drivers into their spell. Long has the Golf GTI been an icon. A mark for itself.
Since 1982 Golf GTI celebrate it annually in the Austrian Land at the Wörthersee. Thousands come. Volkswagen placed a Golf before them: the Golf GTI W12-650 showcar. This sports car is a inclination before the GTI friends at the Wörthersee, people for whom the GTI is a myth. Stronger, broader, faster A Golf was never stronger, broader or faster. It seems that the Golf GTI W12-650 comes directly from the racing course. A Golf that runs like the Pace Car of the 24 hours of Le Mans. Its name means: W12-Zylinder, 650 HP (477 KW with 6.000 rpm). A Showcar, not more, not less. Nevertheless it shows what enormous potential the Golf has to offer.

3.7 seconds, 325 km/h, 750 Newtonmeters
Its 6,0 Liter Biturbo engine is longitudinal and placed directly behind the driver and the front seat passenger. The Golf GTI W12-650 differentiate itself in this way from the classical central engine car. A 6-speed automatic transmission transfers 750 Newtonmeters (at 4.500 rpm) to the rear axle. It catapults the Golf GTI W12-650 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. With a maximum speed of 325 km/h the Golf GTI W12-650 leaves behind nearly all of the world's supercars.

Width 1.88 m, 235er tire in front, 295er tire in the back
Automotive engineers and designers united under Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 650its 1.88 meters (series: 1.76 meters) spread and 1.42 meters (series: 1.50 meters) flatten body. The chassis components of the Golf GTI W12-650 were adapted directly from supersports cars. The wheels are of course made from a light alloy and because of the gigantic wheel dimensions a specialy engineered tire had to be made.

70 millimeters lower, 160 millimeters broader
The goal was clearly defined - despite the partially dramatic technical changes the study shouldremain completely clear that this is a Golf GTI. Therefore as much parts as possible were taken from tha classical GTI like: the headlights, the doors, the front hood and the tail lamps. The axles were pushed 70 millimeters into the body.
The largest problem was to supply the 6-litre central engine with sufficient air and to produce sufficient drift at the rear axle without watering the silhouette of the Golf GTI W12-650. Therefore the C-columns were re-designed in such a way that they lead air to the engine. The rear side windows run inward, so that two channels develop between the disks and the C-columns on the left and on the right to drive air to the engine. The Carbon fiber roof is a diffuserInnovative building of the body also prevented that the lines of the Golf GTI W12-650 to get ruined by a putting on a roof wing. The study carries the wing inward. The roof is part of an enormous diffuser, which provides sufficient drift to the rear axle. It's made from carbon fiber and leads air under the normal tail spoiler.

Interior with racing ambitions
The leather is Alcantara. On the middle range of the armatures are Three rows of auxiliary instruments. Transparent "Flip UP" switch guards for central functions like the disconnectible ESP look like taken derectly from the race track.
Fire extinguishers are integrated in the place of the glove compartment to also remind us of the race. Because of weight reasons "stripped" the door linings are complete; only lattices are used, which grant a complete view of the interior mechanics of the door.

2008 Volkswagen Golf Variant

2008 Volkswagen Golf VariantVolkswagen is introducing a new Golf to the worldwide market: The “Variant” that is as spacious as it is variable. On June 1, dealers will be presenting the model in Germany; all other countries and continents will follow successively. The new Variant – like the classic Golf and the Golf Plus (including CrossGolf) – is already in its third single remake of the successful “Golf” album. Earlier editions of the station wagon were also sales hits: More than 1.2 million cars have found buyers since 1993, and 660,000 units have been registered in Germany alone. Now the third generation is arriving.
New Volkswagen Golf Variant targets market leadership in Germany
In demand. Despite progressive fragmentation of the station wagon segment, wagon models of the so-called Volkswagen Golf class are still enjoying high demand. About 650,000 specimens of this species are sold in Western Europe every year. Seven out of every 10 cars go to the five largest countries in Europe (Germany, Italy, Great Britain, France, Spain), almost 200,000 of them to Germany. Not to be underrated is the high proportion of commercial customers. Volkswagen estimates that nearly two thirds of all Golf Variants are registered as company and commercial cars. Of these, a majority are paired with the 1.9-liter TDI – an especially economical car for high-distance drivers – which couples its good performance (187 km/h top speed) with exceptionally low fuel consumption (5.2 liter/100 km on average).´Cargo area with up to 1,550 liter capacity
Spacious. Like its predecessor, the new Volkswagen Golf Variant, now 15.9 centimeters longer, is marked by an ideal ratio of interior and exterior dimensions. Its maximum cargo capacity grew from 1,470 to 1,550 liters, for example, and when used as a five-seater 560 liters of cargo (with spare wheel well) still fit into the cargo area.
Classy basic equipment features, enormous panorama sunroof
Extensive. Volkswagen is offering the new Golf Variant in the equipment lines Trendline, Comfortline and Sportline. Even the Trendline base equipment line comes with ESP, six airbags, 16-inch wheels, power windows front and rear, central locking with remote keyless entry, tilt-up cargo floor and asymmetrically split folding rear bench seat with armrests. Distinctive special equipment, and in the case of the Golf Variant Sportline even standard, is the newly designed, two-piece glass panorama sunroof (standard on the Sportline) with a length of 1.36 meters and width of 0.87 meters.
Highly efficient engines; power range from 75 kW to 125 kWHigh-spirited and economical. The new Volkswagen Golf Variant is being launched with two diesel and three gasoline engines, including four direct injection engines. Serving as the entry level engine is a 1.6-liter four cylinder that outputs 75 kW / 102 PS. Positioned above it are the twincharged TSI engines with high-end technology. These high-torque power packages deliver 103 kW / 140 PS and 125 kW / 170 PS, respectively. Factory equipped with diesel particulate filters are the two strong TDIs of the Golf Variant at 77 kW / 105 PS and 103 kW / 140 PS. Innovative: The DSG dual clutch transmission. It is optional on all engines with the exception of the 1.6-liter gasoline engine.

Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion

Volkswagen Polo BlueMotionVolkswagen Polo BlueMotionVolkswagen Polo BlueMotionVolkswagen Polo BlueMotionVolkswagen Polo BlueMotionPRESS RELEASE
VOLKSWAGEN POLO BLUEMOTION NAMED A FINALIST FOR WORLD GREEN CAR OF THE YEAR
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The European-market Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion has been selected as a finalist for the 2007 World Green Car title. A jury comprised of more than 40 international automotive journalists representing the world's most significant automotive outlets chose this year's finalists. The World Green Car of the Year will be declared April 5 at the New York International Auto Show.
The Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion is Europe's most economical five-seat automobile, offering the equivalent of 60 miles per gallon. The key to the Polo BlueMotion's efficiency is the optimization of an already economical package. Incorporation of longer ratio gears in the standard five-speed manual transmission, application-specific light weight alloy wheels, and lower rolling resistance 165/70 R14 tires all contribute to increased fuel economy. The lightweight body structure has enhanced aerodynamics to further improve its efficiency. The Polo BlueMotion doesn't ask its owners to compromise, as its sprightly performance and sporty chassis dynamics provide the "fun to drive" element inherent in Volkswagen's brand DNA.
The Polo BlueMotion is the first model to be launched under Volkswagen's BlueMotion sustainability initiative aimed at developing low-emissions and low-fuel consumption vehicles at affordable prices.
Founded in 1955, Volkswagen of America, Inc. is headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan. It is a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany.
