Mitsubishi Concept-cX at Frankfurt Motor Show

Mitsubishi Concept-cX Mitsubishi Concept-cX- Dual peace of mind -
Building upon 70 years of four-wheel drive expertise, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) is in a privileged position to appreciate the customer benefits of this technology, in terms of on-road active safety and off-road ability, from Lancer Evolution to Pajero.
At the occasion of the 62nd Frankfurt Motor Show, MMC will combine this dynamic fluency with the first tangible demonstration in Europe of its regionalised environmental strategy, previewing the CO2-friendly next generation Euro 5 Clean Diesel family of engines co-developed with its parent company, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.
As a showcase for this dual "peace of mind", Mitsubishi Motors will unveil Mitsubishi Concept-cX* in Frankfurt: an accessible, affordable, sustainable and realistic solution to today's pressing issues. Sporty and flexible, Mitsubishi Concept-cX will follow the popular compact SUV route to carry this message right at the heart of the market.
Featuring the "Jet Fighter" grille already seen with Lancer Sports Sedan and using a soft-road application of the Outlander-derived Electric control four-wheel drive drivetrain, the 4.10m long Mitsubishi Concept-cX will also intend to create a link between Mitsubishi's passenger cars and SUVs.
Sharp in design and in dynamics, Mitsubishi Concept-cX will boast an excellent environmental performance to be seen in the low fuel consumption and emission levels achieved by its next generation 1.8-litre Clean Diesel engine, mated to an automated manual transmission. A preview of a family of powertrains to be launched in the course of 2009, it features a variable geometry diffuser (VG) turbocharger – to generate optimum boost pressure for all engine loads – and DPF technologies.
Mitsubishi Concept-cX's further green credentials include eco-friendly "Green Plastics", MMC's proprietary plant-based resin technology, effectively used for interior trim materials.
As a reminder, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has adopted an all-embracing approach in addressing global environmental issues. Under its "EIP 2010" ("Environment Initiative Program 2010") umbrella project, the Company is actively engaged in the development of a wide range of such technologies, covering:
o Powertrains suiting regional needs, driving patterns & infrastructures:+ Clean Diesel Euro 5 family of engines for Europe+ MiEV next-generation electric vehicle for Japan+ Flexible fuel vehicle for Brazilo Materials (plant-based "Green Plastic",...)o Processes ("Design for Environment" guiding principles,...).o Manufacturing (pollution-prevention and recycling measures).o Conservation ("Pajero Forest & Local Mountain Restoration Initiative" aiming to conserve and cultivate Japan's forests and woodlands).
Note: "Pajero" is "Montero" in Spain and "Shogun" in the UK.

Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback coming to Frankfurt

Mitsubishi LancerMitsubishi Motors Europe - 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show
Preview # 2
- All-new Lancer Sports Sedan -
Mitsubishi has embarked upon its most ambitious automotive project ever through the launch of its first global platform.
Known as "Project Global" within MMC, and already successfully previewed with the second generation Outlander, this new global platform will next be rolled out to the European public at the 2007 Frankfurt Show (IAA), underpinning the all-new 4-door Lancer Sports Sedan.
Global
Representing a multi-million dollar investment, the "Project Global" platform will support the launch of several new Mitsubishi vehicles over the next few years, including (as of now) the all-new Lancer family, the second generation Outlander or the recently unveiled – and very successful – Delica D:5 minivan / SUV crossover.
Designed from the outset for world markets to accommodate various regional needs and regulations as well as changing market trends and customer demands, "Project Global" generates economies of scale through built-in flexibility and synergies in design, engineering and manufacturing.
Credentials
Designed at Mitsubishi Motors' European design studio in Trebur, near Frankfurt (Germany) for world markets, Lancer Sports Sedan shares its stunning design language with the much-acclaimed Concept-Sportback (2005 IAA) and Concept-X (2005 Tokyo) concept cars, also created in Europe.
Its low stance, long bonnet / short deck proportions, wide track, trademark "Jet Fighter" grille (with a chromed upper grille in this European market application) and distinctively deep set "eyes", all bring a new meaning to the concept of sports sedans.
Very much in line with Mitsubishi's inspiring "Japanese Modern" design philosophy, this theme is also evocative of Lancer's peerless motor sports credentials covering 35 years of racing, from the original 1973 Lancer 1600 GSR winner of numerous long distance 70s rallies in Africa and Australia (East African Safari, Bandama, Southern Cross,...) to the very hot 1980 Lancer EX 2000 Turbo and today's Lancer Evolution.
Family
To be launched progressively in Europe from the end of 2007, the (4,570 mm long x 1,760 mm wide) Lancer Sports Sedan will provide Mitsubishi Motors in Europe with a full family of offerings ranging from 1.5 litre petrol entry models to mid-range 1.8 litre petrol and 2.0 litre Diesel versions (availability according to markets), right up to the all-new Lancer Evolution – for the first time a member of the Lancer family. In the future, further variants will be made available as well:
* - Entry level: 110 ps – 1.5 l DOHC MIVEC petrol*
* - Mid-range: 140 ps – 2.0 l Pump Jet Diesel (VAG-supplied)*
* 144 ps – 1.8 l DOHC MIVEC petrol*
* - Upper-range: output & details to be unveiled at a later stage
* - Hero: 2.0 l Turbo DOHC MIVEC petrol (Lancer Evolution / output to be unveiled later)
* all data subject to homologation.
The above line-up will include 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, CVT, 4-speed automatic and 6-speed automated manual, according to the engine.
Joining the Lancer Sports Sedan and Lancer Evolution during 2008, the all-new 5-door Lancer Sportback will further strengthen the Lancer family. With its coupé-like profile – modelled upon the exciting 2005 Frankfurt concept car of the same name – it will specifically target hatchback-minded European customers.
Beyond conventional segmentation, the all-new Lancer family will be in Europe a refreshing alternative for customers looking for timeless presence, sharp dynamics, reliability and value-for-money, all brought by heritage-proud, non-mainstream, right-brained, quality Brands.

Mitsubishi Colt CZT Black Hawk (UK)

Mitsubishi Colt CZT Black Hawk for UKMitsubishi Colt CZT Black Hawk for UK Mitsubishi Colt CZT Black Hawk for UKMitsubishi Colt CZT Black Hawk for UKMitsubishi Colt CZT Black Hawk for UKMitsubishi Colt CZT Black Hawk for UKMitsubishi Colt CZT Black Hawk for UK
The Mitsubishi Colt has earned its stripes – with the launch of two special edition Black Hawk models. Both are based on three-door versions of Mitsubishi’s funky hatchback, the distinctive Black Hawk styling giving the car’s already fun and sporty looks an additional dose of street-cred.
As its name suggests, customers can choose any colour they like - as long as it’s black. But with two silver stripes running from front-to-back, over the centre of the bonnet, roof and tailgate, plus privacy-glass fitted to the side and rear windows, the Black Hawk will certainly stand out from the flock.
The Colt Black Hawk features Mitsubishi’s nippy 1124 cc 3-cylinder, 12-valve, DOHC engine, which delivers pocket-friendly motoring by achieving an impressive 50mpg and delivering an insurance group rating of just 3E.
This smaller-engined version of the two comes complete with a set of purposeful 16” alloy wheels, which are surrounded by low profile 205 / 45 tyres. Added to this is the option of air-conditioning, all of which makes this a very cool car indeed.
The Colt Black Hawk CZT is based on the high-performance member of the Colt family - the turbo-charged, 1468cc, MIVEC-engined CZT. Capable of reaching 62mph in just 7.2 seconds and a top-speed of 132mph, this Black Hawk has wings.
As well as featuring all of the equipment levels offered with the top of-the-range Colt: sports seats, rear tailgate spoiler, front fog lamps, sports grille, disc brakes all round and a six-speaker CD/radio with steering wheel remote controls, the Black Hawk CZT is also fitted with a set of mean-looking 17” diameter, 7” wide, special ‘Black Hawk’ alloy wheels and ultra-low profile 205 / 40 tyres.
Just 400 Colt Black Hawks have been produced, with prices ranging from £8021 OTR to £8616 OTR for models fitted with air-conditioning. The CZT version is priced at £13,026 OTR and, with only 200 made, it could well be regarded as a rare bird of the British Isles.
The Colt Black Hawks can be spotted at Mitsubishi dealers all over the UK from this month onwards.
